A vote for AfD is a vote for fascism!

The results of the European elections make it alarmingly clear: there is an increasedfascist threat in Europe and Germany. The German government parties lost 25% of their votes. This means that the current mass base of the dictatorship of the monopolies is dwindling. Rightly so! A clear rebuff also to the other bourgeois parties such as the Christian Democrats (CDU) or Alliance Sahra Wagenknecht (BSW) and the monopolies that purport to be open to the world. They themselves are carrying on the rightward development and adopting anti-social and anti-environmental policies. Real protest only comes from the left.
Parts of the monopolies are building a new fascist mass base. That the AfD (“Alliance for Germany”) has been able to gain so much influence is inconceivable without the support of parts of finance capital, the non-monopoly bourgeoisie, the state apparatus and the major media. This is abetted by Russian and, to some extent, Chinese imperialism and other fascist and proto-fascist forces in Europe.
After the mass anti-fascist protests at the beginning of the year, in which millions of people participated, no AfD voter can seriously claim that the AfD is a harmless protest party. It is becoming increasingly clear that it is fascist. The fascist Höcke-Krah wing has long dictated the pace. Those who vote for the AfD are not teaching the people in power a lesson. The MLPD says clearly and unequivocally: “A vote for AfD is a vote for fascism!” At the same time, openly fascist terror is on the rise, with murderous attacks on MLPD members or attacks on politicians from the Greens, SPD or Left Party and on refugees. More far-reaching conclusions are needed as to what needs to be done now, against any underestimation.
The “modern fascists” operate differently today than the Hitlerite fascists. They have adapted their demagogy to the spirit of the times. The AfD presents itself as “social”, as an “anti-war party” or “freedom fighter”. But didn’t Adolf Hitler also promise a “revolution” in the interests of the working people, or a “genuine peace policy”? The result was 60 million deaths in the Second World War, mass murder of Jewish people, hunger and misery. Communists, trade-unionists and other democrats were the first to be penned in concentration camps, tortured, and brutally murdered. Humanity must not be taken in by this a second time! What do modern fascists do when they are in office? The first thing Meloni did in Italy was to abolish social benefits for the masses. Trump organized a fascist coup when he was voted out of office. Milei in Argentina launched a general attack on workers’ rights. Erdoğan in Turkey had tens of thousands of revolutionaries and democrats thrown into prison. “My country first” is the motto of the governments that are needed to openly fight out the rivalry between more and more imperialists.
Let’s attack the AfD from all sides! The AfD must not be reduced to its racism. It is the party of anti-communism and anti-worker sentiment, a servant of international finance capital, aims to smash the organized working-class movement, calls for the abolition of environmental protection measures, and embodies egoism, chauvinism, and ultimately war.
The progressive change of mood that brought almost six million people onto the streets in the first half of 2024 is currently being overridden by the rightward development among a larger number of people. But there is also increased polarization and mass politicization. And there is an anti-fascist and progressive counter-tendency, with many now even feeling particularly challenged.
The anti-fascist struggle must permeate all work. The focus must be on persuasion, enlightenment and education. We need an intensive and convincing fight for the thoughts, feelings and actions of young people in particular. After all, the AfD fell from 23 percent in the opinion polls to less than 16 percent in the European elections. In a number of countries, right-wing governments were voted out of office or were unable to hold their ground in the face of protests. So it is possible to influence the mode of thinking! Active resistance is also necessary. Don’t give an inch to fascism!
The growth, not to mention the victory, of the fascist tendency still can be prevented. This requires a broad anti-fascist unity of action in the struggle against anti-communist division. An effective proletarian united front must be led by the working class. Strengthen the Internationalist Alliance against rightward development and fascism, and the “United Front” internationally. Strengthen alliance work! We call on the workers in the factories and trade unions to speak out forcefully – in strikes, as for their jobs, but also against the fascist threat.
Bourgeois anti-fascism reduces the problem to racism or anti-Semitism. It often excludes Marxist-Leninists from unities of action. It calls for “saving democracy”. Yet there is no real democracy for the masses under capitalism. There are important democratic rights. But all too often they are only on paper. We must defend or fight hard for and extend all democratic rights and freedoms. We must get to the root of the fascist danger: it lies in capitalism and the dictatorship of the monopolies. The MLPD will resolutely strengthen its movement for genuine socialism as a social alternative to rightward development and fascism.
In the coming period the MLPD will concentrate its forces on the state elections in Thuringia. They are of nationwide and Europe-wide significance. Höcke, the actual ideological leader of the AfD, sits there. The AfD is concentrating its forces there. The Internationalist List/MLPD has set itself the task of making a breach there. The MLPD calls on everyone: Make this campaign your cause and get involved! Become an organizer, put up posters, donate, and above all: engage in thousands of convincing discussions! To all young people: Come along to the anti-fascist education and action camp of the youth league Rebell!
Strengthen the MLPD and its youth league Rebell!
